Hartlepool mosque donates riot funds to 'help others'

In the wake of recent unrest in Hartlepool, a mosque has turned a challenging situation into a positive community initiative. Following a fundraiser that raised £16,000, the Nasir Mosque has donated the funds to various local charities, including food banks and domestic violence support services. The fundraiser was initiated to show appreciation for the mosque's efforts in the community, particularly its volunteers who have distributed nearly 30,000 meals over the years. Imam Tahir Selby expressed gratitude for the community's support and emphasized the importance of helping others, as taught in Islam. The donations were presented at a special event at the mosque, highlighting the unity and resilience of the community.

Among the beneficiaries were the Salaam Community Centre and Alice House Hospice, which received significant contributions.
