Saudi Arabia says East-West pipeline pumping 5.8 million bpd

Saudi Arabia's Energy Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, announced that the East-West Pipeline has restored its capacity to pump 5.8 million barrels per day following a recent attack. This pipeline is crucial for Saudi oil exports, allowing the country to bypass the Strait of Hormuz, which has faced disruptions due to geopolitical tensions.

The minister highlighted that the pipeline resumed operations within days after the drone strikes attributed to Iraqi militia. The East-West Pipeline, also known as the Petroline, connects major oil fields in eastern Saudi Arabia to the Red Sea port of Yanbu, facilitating a significant portion of the kingdom's oil exports.

With the ongoing US-Israel conflict impacting oil flows, the pipeline has become increasingly vital, rerouting approximately 4 million barrels per day to maintain global supply levels. This development underscores the importance of energy security in the region amidst rising tensions and conflicts affecting oil transportation routes.
