Breast cancer awareness scheme offers 600 free mammograms in Saudi Arabia
Arab NewsOct 9, 2026
A new initiative in Saudi Arabia is providing 600 free mammograms for women aged 40 and above. Launched during Breast Cancer Awareness Month, this program aims to promote early detection of breast cancer among women. The initiative, titled 'She Drives the World,' is a collaboration between Hyundai Motor Company and Saudi German Health, highlighting the importance of health awareness in the region.
Research indicates that a significant number of women have not undergone breast cancer screenings, with only 17 percent of those surveyed having participated. This initiative seeks to address this gap by making screenings accessible and encouraging women to prioritize their health. The campaign will run for three months, aiming to increase awareness and participation in breast cancer screening.
Such health initiatives are crucial in Muslim-majority countries, where cultural factors may influence women's health decisions. By providing free screenings, this program not only supports women's health but also fosters a community dialogue about the importance of regular health check-ups and preventive care.
