A recent report has unveiled a significant disinformation campaign linked to Israeli entities, which has targeted Muslims globally. This operation, which is estimated to have cost around £6.12 million, has been active from October 2023 and is expected to continue until October 2026. Researchers have characterized it as one of the largest influence campaigns ever documented, with a staggering 800 million advertising exposures across multiple continents.

The campaign has propagated various anti-Muslim narratives, including conspiracy theories that are racist and anti-migrant in nature. It utilized a range of media, including social media advertisements, AI-generated videos, and even video game parodies, to spread its messages. Notably, one of the campaigns, titled Grand Theft Qatar, has drawn particular attention for its portrayal of Emiratis.

This report highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Muslim communities worldwide in combating disinformation and Islamophobia. The scale and reach of this campaign underscore the need for vigilance and proactive measures to counteract such narratives that seek to marginalize and demonize Muslims.
